EGR on 2000 Mitsubishi Galant?

Engine light came on, took it to mechanic, said it was EGR, said it wasn't serious, replace it when you have money basically.

What is all the components to the EGR? Valve?
Easy fix?
Been no problem since.

EGR solenoids have intermittent problems on Galants. To check the EGR valve, take the vacuum line off and hook up a vacuum pump. Start the motor and while it idles pump open the EGR valve. If it's good the motor will run rough until you release the vacuum.
