you anchor a rope at one end to make an moveable pulley to achieve a mechanical advantage of 2. you lift the object 5m off the ground, how much rope have you pulled throught the pulley?
a. 2m
b. 5m
c. 7m
d. 10m

10 m, since you have a mechanical advantage of 2, that means that with half the force you can lift the object. The thing is that you need to make the same work, so you have to pull double the amount of rope in order to lift the object 5m

Darey Takes Over As GUS 8 Batch B Boss

Bob Manuel, who had hitherto anchored the show, solo, for a couple of years, was the anchor person for the first phase of this year’s contest.

Darey was earlier introduced as the co-anchor of the programme, as part of a new concept for Gulder Ultimate Search. For the next few weeks, he will assign tasks to the GUS 8 contestants, announce the evicted contestants and also speak to them at the Place of the Talking Drum.

And after spending barely 24 hours in the jungle, the first evictee in the second batch of GUS 8 has emerged. He is Kenneth Iheme. It was a tough contest not only for Kenneth, but the entire contestants. With no food to eat and having spent a sleepless night, no thanks to their leaky shelter, they had to draw on their reserves for the task.

Under the watchful eyes of Darey, each of the contestants was required to stand inside a marked out area while holding unto a triangle with one hand. The triangles were connected to a pulley which had sacks tied to them. Each of the sacks weighed exactly 30 per cent of the contestant’s body weight. Each contestant was required to hold up the sack on the pulley by pulling on the triangles for as long as possible. Should the bags drop or if any of the contestants stepped out of the marked area, it would be instant disqualification.
