Is the Unreal Engine 3 beginner friendly? If not what do you recemmend to create good looking games?

I have no programming experience what so ever. Also, I am interested in learning a little programmng, but not something too difficult. I have seen a few videos with the Unreal Engine 3 and it seems pretty easy, and an interface driven system. I

They like showing off the editors, but theres millions of lines of code behind it... unreal is a c++ engine iirc which is a low level method of programming it. Besides that they only licence it to big game studios.
