Need help with removing the timing chain tensioner to change water pump of a 1998 Nissan Maxima?

The factory repair manual indicated that I need pushing the tensioner sleeve, apply a stopper pin so it does not return. My questions are:
1) What type of pin should I use? From the picture in the manual it looks like one of those cork
The pin that we use is similar to a push pin but a little longer. You could get away with anything metal that will fit in the hole of the tensioner. The tensioner uses oil pressure to push the sleeve out so if you put steady pressure on it the oil will
