whats the normal life for a ford expedition engine 1997?

I would expect it to last 250,000 to 300,000 miles as long as you keep the oil changed regularly! As the other bob noted the engine should outlast 2 to 3 transmission rebuilds.

Keep a close eye on the oil pan though - Fords in that age
