Why are my headlight wire overheating at the switch on my 1989 Ford Mustang GT? I had to replace the old head light switch wiring harness, but copied all wires correctly. However now, when I turn on the headlights, the lead wire for the park lights and

Overheating wire means a short. You need to have the skills and tools to try to isolate which positive wire is shorting out. More than likely, the short will be between your wiring harness through the firewall and out to the headlamps.
