Is it okay to run a HEPA cleaner without the carbon filter installed?

The activated carbon gives off a noticeable smell and since I don't smoke or have any chemical exposures (I'm using the cleaner mainly for the HEPA/particulate filtration), is it okay for me to run it without the activated carbon filter? The cleaner
Yes, but don't run it without the pre-filter.
The carbon filter is for removing odors.
What little change in your static pressure will not hurt your system.
