Why don't they sell underbones in the USA?

I know that some were sold decades ago, but why can't you buy a Honda SuperCub, Honda Wave, etc.

ie Is it safety, emisssions, predicted popularity, or some other factor?


To clarify: "underbones" are a type

Good question.

I learned to ride on a 1960 Cushman Eagle in 65 then bought a Honda 50cc Cub the next year. It was a blast to ride and at 210 mpg ($0.25 / US gal) cheap to operate even on an income of a whopping $2.75 / hr.
