I have a 97 Audi A4 and I was wondering if I could switch to the flip key?

I have a 97 Audi A4 and I was wondering if I could switch to the flip key? I would like to switch to the flip key, but I heard the keyless entry wont work on the older models, is this true?

you need the factory remote alarm and locking system to be fitted for remote locking and unlocking, if no remote key came with the car it is unlikely it is fitted
